Welcome in the world of public transport. Play the most realistic game of building and planning public transport systems.
General idea
The main idea of „Traffic – the game“ is to simulate realworld public transport.
This simulation incorporates of course all alternatives for public transportation such as
- busses
- trams and tram trains (Stadtbahn)
- metro/underground systems (U-Bahn)
- suburban railsystems (S-Bahn)

What to play
The player´s role is that of a public transport planner, manager and coordinator. The player will be able to
- plan buslines
- build tram lines
- dig metro lines
- build stations
- create and delete bus stops
- buy vehicles like busses, trams, carriages
- change lines, prolong lines, delete lines and completely change the line system
- generate a price and ticket system
So far, this concept sounds as if we plan to produce a Traffic Giant or Sim City – Rush hour clone. But we have a main difference in our plans in comparison to these existing games: We want to let the player act in realworld cities on realworld cartography and not on limited, small, model cities.
With „Traffic – the game“ you will be the head of public transportation systems in New York, London, Paris, Moscow, Berlin or Rome. You will not only plan five or six bus lines with a dozen of stations for model cities with 10.000 inhabitants, but hundreds of bus lines, dozens of metro lines with numerous vehicles, stopping at up to 1000 stations for serving the people of multimillion metropolitan areas. And there will be a realistic business model behind the scenes.
This task is much more challenging than everything you might be used to by common Giant, Sim and Tycoon games – you are dealing with realworld problems. And thanks to this realism you will get much more satisfaction, when you are able to solve these problems. Due to the size of the task, the endless possiblities for creating lines, changing systems etc. the game can give endless fun and recreation time filled with strategic thinking and challenging tasks.
Events
Of course there will be events such as
- bus accidents
- road and rail works slowing down trams
- fire in metro stations
- rush hour traffic jams
- strikes of employees
All of these make the game even more diversified and interesting.
Tasks
Missions will not only give you a variety of maps, but also different starting situations:
- your budget for creating a public transport system may vary
- there might be a time limit
- you might only choose certain systems
- perhaps you start with an already existing system
